cleave festival 2021

To see, to hear, to feel.

To be seen, to be heard, to be felt.

What does it mean to bear witness?

This facilitated performance will explore the stories that make us who we now are, what is their importance? Can we be without them?

I need you - audience, participants, witnesses.

LYDIA NEWMAN

9th July, 19:50 (Route A) & 10th July, 14:50 (Route A)

Studio 3

45 minutes

Lydia is a multidisciplinary artist nervously excited to get out of her bedroom into the world! In early 2020, she gave art direction for Imagination and the Misfit Kid, an animated short film by musician Labrinth. She has a preoccupation with visual art, installation, soundscaping and movement, but ultimately central to these modes of expression are personal narratives that enable her to connect with the audience authenticity, linking all present to primal truths. With the restrictions of the pandemic, Lydia formed YesAnd with her cousin, who also happens to be her dear friend! Together they focus on process, as making through this time has been foundational to their wellbeing. Lydia has a long-standing love for grassroots community work; outside of her creative practice, she is a creative facilitator and charity advisor
